Ollie's Angels Animal Rescue, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was named in honor of Melissa's beautiful white lab mix. Melissa fostered and then adopted Ollie in April 2013 after he was rescued from living outside for 7 years in North Carolina. When he arrived in NY, Ollie was nameless, emaciated, and positive for Heartworm disease, Lyme disease, and Ehrlichia. He also limped and suffered from severe pain in his hind legs, which was later diagnosed as arthritis and hip dysplasia. From the first time she looked into his eyes, Melissa knew they were meant to be together. It took many months, but Melissa slowly nursed Ollie back to health, and he became her shadow, her angel, her best friend. Ollie passed away peacefully on July 15, 2018 in his mom’s arms. In his honor, Melissa and her team of incredible volunteers continue to be the voice for the voiceless and all of Ollie’s very special angels.
